History
Success By 6, funded with a Smart Start Oklahoma grant and United Way of Lawton-Fort Sill, works to mobilize the community to care for young children. With programs like Raising A Reader, Leap Into Literacy, and Bibs and Books, parents and caregivers are encouraged to be involved and make a difference in the life of a child.
It mobilizes the community to support young children and their families to ensure quality systems are available for childcare, for pre-school programs, for early literacy awareness and education, for maternal/child health, and for parenting education.
In 1998, United Way of Lawton-Fort Sill included early childhood in its Long-Range Plan for Health and Human service needs. From the inception, Lawton Success By 6 has been able to obtain grants to implement and support this program.
Lawton's Success By 6 is currently funded with a grant from Smart Start Oklahoma which is the Oklahoma Partnership for School Readiness legislation.
The vision of Success By 6 is that all of the children in Oklahoma children will enter school healthy and ready to succeed in school and in life.
