The United Way of Lawton Fort-Sill Fact Sheet is a detailed listing of specific facts about our mission, and the work we do in the community. It also lists our fund raising goals, and how we plan to mantain meeting those goals. For the full list of facts about our United Way, see the list below.
- For every dollar raised the United Way of Lawton-Fort Sill spends one penny annually to pay for services like national research, professional training, staff support, and NFL public service announcements, via our Membership Dues to United Way of America. Annually 99 cents of every dollar stays in the Lawton-Fort Sill community.
- Local dollars raised are used to meet local needs. United Way spends 85% of all the money received for services provided by our member agencies and other designated 501(c) 3 organizations.
- Many charitable organizations and the Better Business Bureau consider it very reasonable to spend 25% to 40% of total funds on administrative costs. United Way of Lawton-Fort Sill management and fund raising costs have remained low as contributions and allocations or designations to services continue to increase.
- Our Goal for 2009-2010 is to raise $1,800,000. The campaign chair for this ambitious goal is Linda Neal. Co-campaigning with is Deano Cox of AT&T.
- The funded health and human services agencies are pre-screened for need, integrity and effectiveness of services by dozens of local volunteers, like you, who make up the Fund Distribution Committee.
- The mission of the United Way of Lawton-Fort Sill is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power within our community.
- The United Way funds health and human services, not capital improvements.
- The United Way is governed by community volunteers who serve in many capacities. In addition to our Fund Distribution committee of 65 members. The 34 members of the board establish and monitor policy. Approximately 50 volunteers coordinate marketing, public relations, and special events for our campaign. About 400 volunteers raise the money, serve on the leadership team to oversee our Success By 6 and 211 programs and volunteer for Day of Caring events. over 400 youth volunteer during our many youth service learning opportunities each year.
